dwelling
space
this project employed the concept of creating two coinciding structures upon an irregular topography. the design process was fueled by using this topography to advantage, and creating a relationship between the two massings to interact and work with one another.
a previous bah-relief I made served as the site for the structure. I crop from the model to the left became the base topography.
I employed the use of a grid system for both of my structures. I began composing in plan and section, using this grid to make shapes and simple combinations for the structures. I then used a sub grid of smaller boxes to make additions and subtractions from these inital main shapes, to make for more interesting drawings to look at and spaces to experience.
I assigned the structure to the left (on plan) for more private living, such as sleeping and working, and the structure on the right for more public spaces, such as eating or entertaining.
